Dr. Kris Buedts
Dr. Kris Buedts heeft een brede opleiding genoten in de orthopedische heelkunde, zowel in binnen- als buitenland. Hij heeft zich vooral bekwaamd in de perifere orthopedische chirurgie.
Hij startte zijn medische carrière in 1993, toen hij afstudeerde als Doctor in de Genees-, Heel- en Verloskunde. Als competitiezwemmer met licentie heeft hij een uitgesproken interesse in de sportpathologie. Hij specialiseerde zich dan ook verder in de orthopedie aan de Universiteit Antwerpen. Zijn opleiding in deze tak van de geneeskunde zette Dr. Buedts verder zowel binnen als buiten Belgie.
Zo vervolledigde hij o.a. de opleiding Orthopedie aan The Royal College of Surgeons, Beaumont Hospital (Ierland) en volgde hij een fellowship ‘ Foot and Ankle Surgery’ aan de Southern Californian Orthopaedic Institute , Los Angeles (USA) (Richard Ferkel) en aan de KUL Leuven (prof Dereymaeker). Als lid van prestigieuze medische verenigingen, met talrijke voordrachten op zijn naam, is Dr. Buedts een autoriteit op het gebied van voet en enkel orthopedie.
Dr Buedts welbepaalde focus legt zich vooral op de enkel en achtervoet chirurgie, gaande van behandelen van sportletsels tot de artrose problematiek van de enkel.
Sinds 2014 is de dienst orthopedie-voetchirurgie erkend als Europees opleidingscentrum. Momenteel leiden Dr. Buedts, Dr. Spaepen en Dr Van Renterghem jonge collega’s uit heel Europa op tot bekwame voet- en enkelchirurgen.
De dienst is aangesterkt met een fellowship programma waar collega’s orthopedisten een extra specialisatie in de voet en enkel pathologie en chirurgie kunnen volgen.
